Dal Makhani Or Kali dal is an all time favourite North-Indian curry and a good accompaniment with Naan or Rice. Here is how I make it:
Take 200 gms black urad dal whole, 50gms chana dal, 50 gms rajma. Soak them together overnight or a few hours before. Then pressure cook adding 8 cups of water, 1 and 1/2 salt, 1 tbsp ghee, 1 tbsp ginger sticks, 1 tbsp choped garlic, 6 green chillies slit and boil for 2-3 whistles then for 50 mins on low heat.
Now heat 2 tbsp ghee in a kadhai. Add 1 tsp ginger,1 tbsp green chilli, 2 medium onions, all chopped finely. Stir fry for 3-4 mins, then add 2 tomatoes chopped finely. Add salt, 1 tsp dhania, powder,jeera powder and 1 tbsp kasoori methi. Stir fry till the tomatoes are soft. Now add dal and cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot sprinkled with garam masala and dots of butter cream to decorate. The delicious Dal Makhani is ready!
