Aloo Achaar

Aloo achaar is one f the ethnic dishes of Nepal and of my favourites.It’s quick and easy. Below I’ve shared the amazing recipe:


  • Potatoes 4 big size boiled
  • 2 green chillies cut into small pieces
  • One tomato small size
  • One pinch asfoteda or hing powder
  • A Bunch of Spring onions cut lengthwise
  • Mustard oil 2 tbsp
  • Methi or fenugreek seeds one tsp
  • Roasted and grinded black sesame seeds
  • Lemon juice one tsp
  • Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Two tbsp Mustard oil


  • In a pan heat the mustard oil
  • When the oil is heated add the methi seeds and the green chillies
  • Saute the green chillies for a while and then add the Spring onions and the asfatoeda powder
  • After the Spring onions have been cooked add the boiled potatoes and some salt
  • Mix them well
  • Now add the roasted sesame seeds and the chilli powder
  • At last add the lemon juice
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves
  • The “Aloo Achaar” is ready to serve!
